Our daughter- in -law Brooke gave me her Aunty Marise’s recipe for such a yummy hummus that I had to pass it on. I don’t know why I haven’t tried it before now. I have in the past bought a take away cup of hummus from a cafe. I now add 1 dessertspoon of hulled tahini I think it adds to the taste.
1 400g tin of chickpeas drained
1 clove garlic crushed
2 teaspoons of lemon juice
1 teaspoon of cumin
1/4 cup of extra virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon of natural yoghurt ,
add a dessertspoon of tahini
Put all in a liquidiser and pulse till smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste. You can add extra lemon juice or garlic .Have a play around with the taste. Sometimes i add more lemon juice or garlic etc.
I was quietly pleased with my first result!
p.s. this recipe was passed around a few people so if it is yours, thank you. (and maybe let me know!)
I good tip I heard recently when we get the hunger pains about 4 in the afternoon is to have hummus on crisp bread.
