Keeping a Balance

Ruby, (one of Anna’s) aged 3½, thought I needed titivating and very kindly added some of her favourite stuff to my ensemble, and then added a bit more!  See yourself as others see you!

So often life is hard, complicated and challenging, but sometimes we need to take things with a pinch of salt. It is good for our health and well-being. Did you know that a deep belly laugh is like good medicine? We need reminding to laugh at ourselves and what’s going on around us and see the lighter side too.

We live in an age where the pressure is on be a high achiever in every area of our lives. Successful kids, excellence in our work, maintain a fitness program to be envied and with that of course comes a great body! We are constantly trying to balance our relationships, and keep our mental health in a state of wellness. Oh, and don’t forget to recycle! We are very busy all day, every day.

Losing someone close to us or facing a crisis, puts all that we do into perspective. Not much is really important. Our priorities take a massive shift. Suddenly what we thought was important isn’t any more. Life becomes much more clear and focused for us. The rat race and all its pressure becomes less appealing. We begin to see life through new eyes.

I found it feels a bit like Alice in Wonderland falling down a rabbit hole. We end up in a very weird place, and have to learn a new language to survive. There is another small problem. We can’t get back to our old life on the surface, the one that we once enjoyed. But there are others in this strange place who have come before us and they help us to adjust to the new way of living.

Life will never be the same, but eventually we find there is plenty to enjoy. We can become better people. What we have in our lives now, today, being most important. To treasure every moment each day and make good memories for those we do have, which we are able to always hold onto in the darkest times.
