Getting into the Christmas Spirit

I have started my attempt at Christmas shopping! And we’re still in November… are you impressed?! Well if you knew how disorganised I was last year then you would realise this is a huge improvement.

There is no way I wanted to have a repeat of last year… I left it all to the very last week and was shopping with the crowds. I was rushing around with no list and I became oh so indecisive! I don’t know why I thought I could just wing it when I had so many to buy for including five children…

Anyway, after hours of roaming, I finally made it home only to find I was missing quite a few presents, and to top it off, I had run out of wrapping paper and sellotape too! Crucial mistakes!!!

So this year I decided to actually make a plan. I’ve done my homework online so I know what I need and have made a list to take with me. For me, there is nothing worse than wandering around aimlessly not knowing what I’m looking for. Not only will it save me a whole lot of time but also money.

And by starting Christmas shopping a little earlier this year, I’ve found I’m getting more into the Christmas spirit too. And it’s not just the Christmas carols that help me get in the mood. I love seeing all the decorations in the shops and listening to the friendly Christmas banter that goes on. I can actually enjoy it because I’m not in the mad rush yet!

But isn’t the build-up for Christmas supposed to fun? It’s so easy to get caught up in the stress and madness of it all that often I forget to take a step back and think about what we’re doing all of this for. It’s the people in my life that are the most important to me over anything else. So to be able to spend a big chunk of time together over Christmas is pretty special.

What is it that you enjoy about Christmas?
